Strongest building materials

Every Valheim building material by structural support: how many pieces stand straight up and stick out sideways, the strongest wall, pole and beam of each, and what damages them.

  • Builds tallest

    Irone.g. Flametal Gate

    50 m25 pieces up

  • Reaches farthest

    Irone.g. Flametal Gate

    48 m24 beams out

  • Strongest piece

    Grausten Floor 4x4Grausten (ash stone)

    4,000health

  • Strongest wall

    Grausten Wall 4x2Grausten (ash stone)

    3,000health

Formula

A piece on the ground gets the material's full support. Each piece above or beside it gets its neighbour's × (1 − loss × (distance between their centres + 0.1)); it stands while that stays at or above the minimum.

Pieces = 1 + floor(ln(minimum ÷ full) ÷ ln(1 − loss × 2.1)) for 2 m pieces end to end; out = the beams beyond a fully supported pole.

WearNTear.GetMaterialProperties and WearNTear.UpdateSupport in the code of Valheim 1.0.17.

Assumptions

  • 2 m poles stacked straight up, 2 m beams straight out; diagonal braces mix the two losses and reach further.
  • Health and resistances are the pieces' own; the walls most pieces of a material share are shown.
