Blood magic

These staffs train Blood Magic and cost health; in the game's words:

Northern Vengeance

“A caged snowflake, endless patterns emerging from within...”

Echo Spike

“A chill that goes right through to the bone.”

Trollstav

“Summons a raging beast to cause death and destruction.”

Staff of Protection

“For a slight blood offering it will protect the caster in a magical shell.”

Dead Raiser

“Sacrifice a bit of blood to raise the dead. Upgrade the skull to spawn multiple skeletons, and increase your blood magic to make them stronger.”

Spirit Caller

“Summon otherworldly aid. It only costs a drop of your blood...”

How the order is worked out

Each answer adds points to the types it fits: fighting style +6 (−6 when it doesn't match), shield or two hands +3, area attack +3 and reach of 2.5 m or more +2 for packs, backstab ×6 +3 for sneaking, a hit 10% harder than a sword +2 or +3, swings at most 90% of a sword's stamina +3, made in the Meadows +3. Ties keep the order of the list (earliest first). Damage and stamina are compared with the hardest-hitting one-handed sword of the same biome, averaged over the biomes both exist in; numbers at max level, skill 0. Best weapons by biome →
